Sociologist

Sociologist from the University of Valparaíso, Doctor of Philosophy and Master in Education, from the University of Western Australia. Currently academic at the School of Psychology, Adolfo Ibáñez University in Chile. Her work focuses on research and analysis in the fields of sociology of education, sociology of health, and other areas of social research. Likewise, she has an extensive experience in complementary therapies due to her work as a hospital clown since 2008 in Chile and Australia.

Work Experience:

She did her professional practice of Sociology at the Theater Area of the National Council of Culture and the Arts (CNA) in Chile during June, July and August 2007. She also has previous work experiences as ananalyst in the “Crece Program” of the Catholic University of Valparaíso, as a researcher at the Sociological Research Centre (CIS) of the University of Valparaíso and a teacher at the School of Sociology, University of Valparaíso until 2019, along with experience as a tutor for different courses of that degree. At the CIS, between 2008 and 2009, she coordinated the “Voices of Poverty” studyin the Valparaíso Region, commissioned by the Foundation for the Overcoming of Poverty. She also has the experienceof tutoring the subject «Education for a Global Knowledge Society» at the University of Western Australia, during the second semesters in 2015 and 2016.

For her undergraduate thesis, she studied the assessment of Chilean technical education students on the curriculum, conceived both in its micro dimensions of classroom practices and macro in relation to political and cultural structures.

On the other hand, her Master’s thesis addressed the formal, non–formal and informal education trajectories of hospital clowns in Western Australia.

Her doctoral thesis investigates the global and local dynamics of university curricular transformations and policy processesat the university level in Chile.

Awards and scholarships:

  • Nomination for the AARE Ray Debus Award for Doctoral Research in Education, from the Australian Association for Research in Education, with the thesis called: “University curriculum transformations incontext: Global–local dynamics of policy processes at the university level in Chile”, completed at The University of Western Australia. October 2020.
  • Winner Best Presentation at ICHES 2020 Conference: International Conference on Higher Education Studies, July17–18, 2020 Helsinki, Finland.
  • Winner Prize in Education 2020 for best thesis Graduate School of Education, University of Western Australia.
  • Winner of the 2010 Chile Scholarship Contest (Concurso Beca Chile) to study her Master in Education program at the Western Australia University.
  • Winner of the 2014 Chile Scholarship Contest (Concurso Beca Chile) to study her Doctor of Philosophy program at the Western Australia University.
