Clown Doctora Tola

In 2007 Victoria began studying clown with the CachiporraTheater Company and the prominent clown and actress Amaya Sologuren. She then continued her training as a hospital clown and in March 2008 she was invited to be part of the Sanaclown”  hospital clown project, which to date continues intervening at the Carlos Van Buren Hospital in Valparaíso, Chile.

In 2012, within the framework of her master’s studies in Australia, she was invited to be a member of the team of clown doctors in the city of Perth for the Clown Doctors Programof the Humour Foundation, working in different hospitals in that country.

Upon her return to Chile, she joins the team of professional clowns of the Sonrisologistsorganization at the Sótero del Río Hospital. In 2014, she was part of the cast of the clown play “Alicia in Alicia’s talewith the Chiquitolina Theater Company, directed by Fabiola Muñoz.

Later in 2015 she resumes her work as part ofthe team of clown doctors when she did her PhD studies in Australia. In 2019 she conducted research for the organization Sonrisologists, aiming to understand the role of the hospital clown in the context of pediatric palliative care, mixing the disciplines of sociology and the clown.

Over time she has continued her training in the artistic discipline of clown with various clown masters and national and international artists, such as Andrés del Bosque (Chile), Hardey McMurrick (Australia), Philip Burgers (United States), Avital Dvory (Israel), Eric de Bont (Belgium), JeanJacques Lemetre (France), Giovanni Fussetti (Italy), Deborah Kaufmann (United States), Amnon Raviv (Israel), PedroFabião (Portugal), Antón Valen (Spain), Alicia Olea (Argentina), among others. Also, in accordance with the needs of clowns to master different artistic techniques, she has been trained in singing, ukulele, and magic. She is also part of the Pukará Nini”, an Argentinian study group on clown and construction of women’s clowns. Currently, she focuses her research and academic work on the study of this discipline.

Within the framework of a research networks project of the Adolfo Ibáñez University that she was adjudicated, in June 2021she coordinated a series of activities to disseminate the work of hospitalclowns in Chile and the world, such as talks open to the public and meeting between hospital clown organizations and researchers.

Currently, due to the crisis generated by the pandemic, she is part of the clown team of the Sonrisologistsproject for socioemotional development of children, preadolescents and adolescents, as part of the initiative «Learning and Taking Care [of Us] in the Community» of the School of Psychology of the Adolfo Ibáñez University in Association with the BHP Foundation.
